Fantastic Ethiopian Food: Desta

Atlanta is fortunate to have a number of Ethiopian restaurants, but many people think this one is the best.  The vegan options (they've assured me they don't use butter)  are a number of different vegetable (like potatoes, carrots, greens) and legume stews, served with injera bread (which is gluten-free).  The stews are $7 to $9, but what's best is a vegetarian sampler ($12) that has all the different stews to try.  The spicing is subtle, but the food is flavorful and wholesome.

Be aware:  Ethiopian food is eaten with the fingers---no utensils!  They will be serving us individual pieces of injera so we don't have to share a communal one, but you will be using your fingers.

They are only reserving 20 spots for us, so please only RSVP if you are definitely coming and change your RSVP if your plans change.

Oh no!!! I'm so sorry, this has never happened before. My day got all messed up and I completely forgot. Good thing there's no longer a waitlist! Sorry about missing, but I'm all in for the next Ethiopian meal!

Does the restaurant have a website/menu online?

Glad there is so much interest in this. If you have RSVPd Yes, please actually attend. There are almost as many people on the waiting list as there are RSVPs, so don't take up a spot that someone else wants. If there is a good chance you won't actually be going, be kind and change your RSVP so someone else can come.

For those on the waiting list: sorry I can't bump you up. The restaurant just gave me 20 slots. I've set the wait list to Manual, meaning that if a spot opens up, you will receive an e-mail about it. First one to respond (click Yes to the RSVP button) will be bumped up and able to attend.

For those who can't come this time, I'll do this MU again soon.

You are missing a great restaurant. Be sure to try it sometime and Queen of Sheba is equally good!

And your opportunities for Ethiopian food in Minnesota may be limited, Susan, so best to get it while you can! Always enjoy having you.

Psh! When I visited for the interview, my host asked me if I wanted Ethiopian food as we passed a restaurant. I think it'll be ok :-) But I will miss having it here in Atlanta with you fine folks :-D

I LOVE Ethiopian food and my partner hates it, so anytime I have an excuse to go eat it with others, I do!!! Thanks for arranging this!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
