Book talk/Signing and Run With Scott Jurek (Vegan Ultra-Runner)

I can't make this, but hopefully some of you can attend and arrange to meet up (can hold up a MU sign, exchange phone numbers, etc.).

The great Ultrarunning champion Scott Jurek will be in the Ansley Mall store Thursday April 4, 2013 promoting and discussing his new memoir EAT & RUN. Not familiar with the name Scott Jurek, well lets just say he set the American record by running 165.7 miles in 24hours. That's 6.5 marathons...in one day. "Anyone can be an ultrarunner," says Jurek. His remarkable story is a reminder that, no matter how far you go, every day's run is a journey of discovery and the chance to explore what's possible in sport — and in life. He will also be leading the group run. This is a Phidippides event you don't want to miss.

He's been a vegetarian since 1997 and a vegan since 1999.  It may be inspirational to bring friends who are always insisting that a professional athlete can't be a vegan and are always bugging you about how you get enough protein!  And for those who haven't made a full leap to becoming veggie, this may inspire you as well!

The event is free, but you must register with the store---it's not enough just to RSVP here.  Register here:

I'm told the run will be at 6:30, with the book talk/signing at 7:15 to 7:30.

Call the store with any questions at[masked]-4268.

If you all want to meet, someone needs to volunteer to hold up a MU sign or give out their cell phone number....

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
