Join the GARP Action Team for a work day at Iron Gait Percherons, a refuge for abused and neglected horses. Iron Gait recently took in an abused/neglected horse from the Atlanta Carriage horse business downtown. And, now they need our help!
Some of the chores we will help with are pasture cleanup, fence repair, barn clean up, and possibly brushing the horses. The horses will be around and we are welcome to mingle with them after completing our work tasks.
PLEASE ARRIVE AT 11:15 AM for check-in. We will be working as a group so please be on time.
What to wear: GARP t-shirt or a black t-shirt. (GARP t-shirts will be available to purchase that day for those who want one).
What to bring with you:
- Work gloves
- Water/snacks to enjoy with other action team participants after we have finished volunteering

More about Iron Gait Percherons: Most drafts horses are only used for a purpose such as breeding, pulling farm equipment, carriage, etc. When their job can no longer be performed to the owners liking, the horses are just thrown away to the auction where most end up in the slaughter/kill pen.
Iron Gait Percherons tries to save as many horses as they physically can by going to auctions and purchasing (saving) them, refurbishing all their medical and nutritional needs, and finding them safe, loving forever homes.
Join GARP and enjoy a day outside helping horses while connecting with other compassionate people. See you there!
