Second Sunday Indie/ Foreign/ Documentary Film Night

  • Jan 12, 2014 · 6:30 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

WHAT: For each movie night, hosts will suggest 3 films with short synopsis from one or more of each category: Independent, Foreign, Art House, or Documentary. Those that RSVP vote on one film by choosing the letter (A, B, or C) corresponding to their selection. The film with the most votes gets played before an Attract-Active audience. Location and host can change with each month. At the end of each Second Sunday event, the event will be posted up for a new host to present their movies, location, details for food. Lastly, the host decides the cap on the number of people attending and the number of guests each AA member can bring.

WHEN: 2nd or 3rd Sunday of the month starting between 5 and 7 pm.

WHERE: This night will be held at Bell Plaza (Adrian's place).

PARKING: Parking is limited at my place, so carpool if possible.  Valet at my building for $3, or if the lot is full then call me and I'll bring you a parking pass so that you can park in the spots on the street in front of the building.

----------------FILMS UP FOR VOTE--------------------

Due to the soul-crushingly sad selection of the last movie night, this list of films up for vote will at least have some humor.

(Click on each movie title for full synopsis)

(A) Blue Jasmine

A New York socialite, deeply troubled and in denial, arrives in San Francisco to impose upon her sister. She looks a million, but isn't bringing money, peace, or love...

(B) Dallas Buyers Club

In 1985 Dallas, electrician and hustler Ron Woodroof works around the system to help AIDS patients get the medication they need after he is himself diagnosed with the disease.

(C) The Closet (Le Placard)

A man spreads the rumor of his fake homosexuality with the aid of his neighbor, to prevent his imminent firing at his work.

Let me stress again: If you can carpool, then please do so. It looks like someone in my condo is having a party or something, because the parking lot is pretty full already.

It looks like "Dallas Buyers Club" is the clear winner, so barring some unforeseen event, that's what we'll be watching on Sunday night. I'll keep "The Closet" handy, as a backup.

I've updated the meetup with parking information. Also, I have a cat, who will stay locked in the other room, but if anyone has allergies, then they should plan accordingly.

    So far, the voting is:
    A - 11%
    B - 58%
    C - 31%

No surprise that the movie that has done the most advertising is the one that's being voted for the most.
