Saturday night birthday party - Fancy Dress

From a friendly member:

Heylo Newbies! I am an Auckland Newbie as well and a member of more than one group on MeetUp. Most of us seem to be!

Anyways, thought I would announce this out here as well. It is my birthday next Saturday, 20th July and as per tradition back home in the UK, am organising a fancy dress birthday party for the evening. Have created an event on F-Book with details:

https://www.facebook.com/events/533536793378141/

I am as new here as anybody else. As are the others who are coming along. So feel free to join and say hello! If this works, we would have just made some new friends. Wouldn't be cool if I showed up as the only Pirate on the day now would it? :-)

Ciao, K

    PLANS FOR SATURDAY:

    1) Meet up at K's palace at 6pm for the Pre Party. Dinner, Pre drinks and Getting the gear on - as much or as little as people want
(I meant the fancy dress of course :D ). Please call me on[masked] if you are bringing someone with you, and for the top secret address if you haven't been here already. The palace focuses on quality over quantity (which is another way of saying that it's a tiny flat. Heh!) and getting an idea of the numbers would be helpful.

Food wise - I've got a hob and the regulation Oven/Grill. A frozen pizza & chips or cocktail sausages might be the easiest to throw in there as party food. If you fancy bubbling something on the hob, feel free to go wild and create a culinary delight by all means.

Drinks - Whatever you like really. I've got some Bourbon cola in the fridge. Will try to stock up on some beer as well.

      2) We will Leave for the club at 9pm. Thus giving us a good time at home before heading out - many of the peeps will not know each other. As indeed I have met quite a few of you fine people only recently. This would be a good time to make new friends for the night ;-)

I tried visiting the manager at Twenty One today but wasn't able to meet him. Will continue to try. Will update anything from what to expect on the club side of things as and when things develop.

Dress Code wise: Dress to Impress (don't we always? :) ). Fancy Dress is allowed. Some of us were talking about this today.. we are thinking come dressed in smart casual, and use the accessories to get the Pirate theme going. ...and don't worry about being posh or celebrity quality. Normal wear will do, so please don't bring out that Giovanni gown or Armani tuxedo. Unless you want to!

Thank You Estelle! Feels nice to have someone wish me, when there was not a soul I knew in this country just a few weeks back :-) Thought I would be celebrating my birthday in a new country watching the news and sipping beer at home! Sad you cannot make it, but would be great if you did hun. x

UPDATE: Just spoke to the manager of Twenty One nightclub at Sky City. More details to follow. Suffice it to say that we may have guest list entry for the entire birthday party group (one way to spot that is by Pirate stuff - even if just a tiny little eye patch or Bandana - on top of "smart casual" clothing and absolutely NO trainers/sneakers/Sports shoes. they expect some class. Well, we will be oozing class and ishtyle on the night :-) ). Oh, and we may also be given our very own private VIP section.

    Watch this space!

    20th July, T.H.I.S Saturday. It's ON!!

Gawd, I should be a party host more often.

UPDATE!! Had some feedback from some peeps saying they are too shy to dress up and party in town. Hmmm.. what say we make the costume optional for our shy friends? I myself may do up something at home.. say like an Eyepatch or a Pirate Hat. Something simple. Maybe a make up scar! :)

Just to repeat that the event is on Facebook where most people follow the link and join. Am getting some correspondence from people asking me if I am the only one going to this party lol Hopefully not!

    Facebook event as here: https://www.facebook.com/events/...

Was wondering what are the odds of us coming up with something like this on Saturday?
