I have a new found interest in Portrait photography and was wondering if anyone here shares the same interest. Perhaps we could have a meetup on doing some portraits? Could be good for everyone to have a go and gauge whether or not it's something they'd be interested in. Also a good way to share tips and learn something in the process.
Now, hopefully we're photogenic, but of course if we know of anyone outside of our group willing to model for us, that'd be just as good :)
UPDATE: 21 March 2013
Now that we have quite a good number of people interested in attending this meetup, here's what we'll need (some bits could be optional):
- Camera (most important!)
- Diffusers or something of that nature to play with lighting (optional)
- Props - for creativity
- Some form of extra clothing - as we would be photographing each other most I think
- Friends / models - especially for those who aren't comfortable with photos being taken of themselves
That should do the trick for now. Please post questions / suggestions as required.
UPDATE: 19 April 2013
Ladies and gentlemen!
I have had a look at the weather and it looks like it's going to be wet and partially windy. In light of that, I have to change the time and location of this meetup.
The new location is Alberton : http://www.historicplaces.org.nz/placestovisit/auckland/alberton.aspx
Venue hire is $250. Now this isn't so bad considering about 30 people are keen to attend at the time of this post - so that's $8.33 per person. We get the entire venue open to us, indoors and outdoors (if we get a break in weather).
As for time, I'd say let's meet at 14:00? That would give us a solid 2.5 hours worth of shooting time. I intend to call the guy at Alberton and confirm by 15:30 - so any quick feedback would be awesome!
