Reel Brazil: Tropicalia - Rialto Newmarket

  • Apr 27, 2013 · 4:45 PM
  • Rialto Cinemas

Meetup time: 4.45am Meeting place: I'll be waiting near foyer entrance facing the two large flat TV screens or txt[masked] Movie start time: 5.30pm Seats: Allocated - I haven't made a booking yet - usually the music docos get booked up but I will just keep an eye on online bookings system in case we need to secure some seats.

SYNOPSIS ‘Tropicalismo’ shook the structures of Brazilian popular music and influenced several generations. Brazil was suffering under a nationalist military regime when Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, Tom Zé, Gal Costa, Arnaldo Baptista, Rita Lee, and many others, mixed Brazilian folk traditions with African music and rock and roll. With revealing interviews, rare archival footage and packed with songs from that period, Tropicália gives us a definitive picture of one of the most fascinating musical and artistic periods in Brazilian history.

sorry I missed you. I arrived just after 5.00pm looked around everywhere but I guess you'd already gone in as they told me the film started at 4.45, so I went in to see No instead.
