Geshe Kelsang Gyatso’s book Modern Buddhism: The Path of Compassion and Wisdom is a perfect guide for understanding the basic teachings of Kadampa Buddhism and applying them to solve the problems of our daily life. Buddhist or not, Kadampa Buddhist teachings help everyone to develop inner peace and find a rich, meaningful life.
This series will be the first of two following Modern Buddhism. In this first series, Kris Dennis will explain what Kadampa Buddhism is, particularly the series of meditations known as “Kadam Lamrim.” The first part of the Lamrim meditations include learning to value our precious human life, seizing its potential, and understanding the Buddhist view on what happens after this life.
Each class will begin with a brief guided meditation, followed by a short teaching. There will be time at the end of class for question and answer and/or discussion. Drop in for any class — no need to attend each class. Everyone is welcome to attend; no previous experience necessary.
