Well everyone, there is still a big need for volunteers for the upcoming Lone Star Vegetarian Chili Cook-Off, coming up THIS Sunday. You may be looking at the weather report and wondering if rain will cancel the event--the answer is NO, the Chili Cook-Off is a rain-or-shine event. There are plenty of covered areas at the farmers market and all the teams will have tents.
After the first volunteer call this past Sunday afternoon, there is a second volunteer call scheduled for TOMORROW evening at Tom's Tabooley, starting at 5pm and running until 9pm. You're welcome to come any time in that window to meet the organizers and find out how you can help. So if you can't come right when it starts, but you can come later on, swing on by and you'll get set up.
All volunteers who work about a four-hour shift will get free admission and discounted prices on our logo'ed t-shirts and canvas bags. And you will get time to enjoy the festival itself and taste the chilis.
But you don't have to wait! You can sign up RIGHT NOW on the official website by going to the Volunteers page: http://veggiechilicookoff.com/volunteers
There are positions available for Admissions, Vegan Ingredients Inspection, Pop-up tents set-up and breakdown, Parking attendants, Load-in and load-out assistance, Merchandise sales, Stage area assistance, Family Activities Area, Recycling & composting, Drivers and Floaters. We also need people who can come out the night before and help set-up the big tents - if you do that, you'll get admission without having to work the day of the event!
Without enough people on hand, things could really flounder, which would be really bad for an event that has already struggled mightily just to get out of the gate this year. The Vegetarian Chili Cook-Off really needs your help.
