OK, folks... it is getting impossible to plan a game for a scheduled meetup when 50% of those signed up are no-shows or are late for the meetup. Board setup for 3-4 or 5-6 players differ, some want to play a certain variant, etc. Does anyone have any ideas on how to manage this? I am thinking that those present at the meetup's scheduled starting time will decide on a game or games to play and immediately set up that game or games. Anyone arriving late risks being left out. It is unreasonable to expect that if you are late, players will tear down their setup to expand it just to accommodate you. This did not happen last night, but we were expecting 8 and, when only 4 showed, decided to go ahead and start a 4-player game... but we sat around for 5-10 minutes waiting for others to show. One other option is to schedule specific games with a specific number of players (e.g. 6-Player Game if C&K) and have people sign up for those games in advance. This is the procedure for Boards & Brews. But this is more to manage and has its own issues if someone doesn't show. Any thoughts?
