We have a terrible problem with people signing up and then not showing for meetups. Last night, I spent 30 minutes setting up a 5-6 player game, waited 30 more minutes to see if latecomers would show, then had to tear it down and set up for a 3-player game. We had 14 people sign up, one last minute cancel and 6 outright no-shows. This makes it nearly impossible to plan for the event, set up games, etc.
Another issue is that Tracey has to pay ($60/yr?) to maintain this group on meetup.com. No one contributes to this cost, but she doesn't ask for contributions, charge for meetups or complain. We owe her a debt of gratitude.
I have a solution to both issues. From now on, if you sign up for a meetup you will have until noon the day of the event to cancel your reservation. If you do not cancel and do not show for the meetup, and you want to play in a future session, you will have to pay the group $2 to be "reinstated in good status." The second offense will cost you $5; the third $10. Any further no shows and you will be deleted from the group. I will keep charge of offenses and turn the fines over to Tracey.
I am limiting attendance to 18 maximum because I think that is the most we can handle with our 3-table limit at the store. There will be a wait list if we exceed that number. Be careful, because if someone cancels in time, you WILL be put on the attendance list for the meetup.
Questions and comments are welcome.
