Asian Festival [road trip!]

Come celebrate Asian cultures, including the incoming Year of the Snake, at San Antonio's 26th annual Asian Festival.

This event is huge, diverse, inclusive, and fun!  It is held at the Institute of Texan Cultures in beautiful downtown San Antonio, in the UTSA HemisFair Park.

The festival will feature music and dance performances, arts and crafts demonstrations, games, and other activities.  The admission fee also gets you into the museum, which has permanent exhibits representing some 40 ethnic groups in Texas.  Food and drinks will be available, with many items under $6.

Here's a detailed guide:

My plan is to leave Austin by 8:30 am and head back around 4 pm.

This event was ok this year. The Taiwan Chamber of Commerce doesn't give away freebies anymore but did have calendars and paper snake lantern kits for sale. Less crowded this year I think because the Rodeo is going on in San Antonio right now.

I bought a spring couplet set from them.
Now I'm curious--what were the freebies last year??!
