    I just moved from central Austin very near where the meetings had been. Just couldn't get there even tho it was less than a mile... And now I'm settling in Kyle and here you guys are!

    Hey peeps,

    Anyone else struggling with SAD (seasonal affective disorder) this winter?

    I just saw an awesome Dr Oz episode yesterday, and he was talking about how to boost your mood during the winter months... He stated that a concentrated supplement of the active ingredient of turmeric (a cooking spice), which is called "curcumin" can be bought at your local drug store. Apparently if you take 500mg of curcumin twice a day, this is supposed to be nearly as effective as a prescription antidepressant. In fact, it looks like the supplement works in exactly the same way (keeping serotonin and other NT's in the synapses longer...so you feel happier!). I haven't tried this myself, but I'm planning to. Dr. Oz recommended to give it a try for 2 to 6 weeks and see if you start feeling better. This would be the test to determine whether or not you want to continue.

    Anna, that is so true and why I name the title of the February meeting "Winter Blues got You Down". Here it is not as prevalent as it was in NH when I lived there, but it still happens. So I think I choose the perfect discussion topic. Hope you can make the February meeting, We have missed you
