:( I really needed to be there and wanted to be there with you all. I have no support system and all of my friends have fled. I feel like my life and body is falling apart and I'm too tired to keep carrying it along with me. Where are my friends that abandoned me for their normal lives. They where supposed to help me!

I noticed a itchy rash around my ankles a day ago that was traveling up my legs. I put on Benadryl cream and tried not to scratch. Turns out it's contact dermatitis, no way of knowing what or where I got it. I did not want to risk spreading it to any of you or your family members.
Also I have something going on with my hips that comes and goes in severity. I know that my pelvis and right hip are un-leveling due to worsening scoliosis and I woke up in the middle of the night sobbing because I couldn't move my legs without screaming and then getting to the bathroom was another battle not worth speaking of. I hope the meeting was nice and you are all well.

Nicole read my response to Julie, it can apply to you also. Contact dermatitis is not contagious and you may have gotten it from something as simple as a new shampoo, conditioner or lotion. I hope you start to feel better and I look forward to seeing you at the December meeting.

Thanks everyone for the caring thoughts. The rash didn't show up until Friday night and I wasn't able to get to a MD so I was just guessing about the contact Dermatitis...It was a rough 2 weeks...My legs still are healing. I've since spoken to my Derm. on the phone and she thinks I got poison Ivy or oak from my dogs who like to lye in the yard in the sun and of course snuggle up next to mommy's legs under a blankie. I had no idea I was allergic to either or that we had either in our yard. I'm still itchy if I wear socks or tight leggings or pants! Yeesh! Hopefully I will make the Dec. meeting:) I hope everyone is doing well.

In the November meet-up we learned about Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. We also talked about anxieties that come with the pain. If you were not able to attend I hope you can in the future. It is beneficial to spend a few hours out of your Saturday sharing, listening and learning.

Hi folks, I'm having a huge flare and will be unable to attend the meetup. I'm so disappointed it hurts (like the rest of me ...). I'm glad I found this group and hope to start getting to know you all in the near future. Finding people who can relate ... that is something I need in my life.

This group is a wonderful and very understanding. Most (if not all) of us have lost friends due to our disability because "they just don't get it". One of my coping mechanisms is to find something each and every day that you are thankful for and smile about it. It can be as small as that you have food in the house or as grand as something wonderful happened to you or a family member. Until next month, hang in there.

Nicole, I have a very similar situation with friends. If you want to talk - or if anyone has time for a chat - I could lend an understanding ear ... and I could absolutely use one. Send me a note and I'll send you my email address.
