RE: [Austin-Chronic-Pain-Meetup-Group] New Meetup: Austin Chronic Pain July 2010 Meetup

-Xavier,

As Anna wrote, chronic pain and depression commonly occur together.  I think that it is important to access all possible modes of treatment for your depression.  There are many talented psychologists in Austin and there are also a plethora of anti-depressant medications on the market to help you battle your depression.

I also want to echo want Jen had to say, that is, " take the bull by the horns".........be proactive........and also use our group as support in coping with your condition.  You will see that you are not alone.

Take good care of yourself,

I keep reading these e-mails from you.  I want to attend but it feels like I'm giving up.  I have 5 rods in my spine and bilateral hip replacements.  I live in pain every day!  I choose NOT to take the pills they give me.  Sometimes, I am so tempted to take them because I hurt so much. It's silent now because folks at work either overreact or tell my boss that I'm 'ON something' (because people suck) when in reality, I have just not slept because of the pain.  Seriously,,,,meetings have been called to discuss my stability.  It's a horrible existence.  I'm single and live alone and depression has become a partner to my life.  I cannot talk to my family or friends (which are few) because they worry so much.  It's a catch 22 (as they say).  I'm alone in this.

Xavier
