The Hub not only creates the perfect atmosphere, with the outside screen in the woods, but there will be food and drink specials throughout the night! Here's our opportunity to see the political thriller Frost v Nixon which is about former President Nixon's attempt to put a positive spin on the reasons why he resigned from office. The Hub is a great location with a huge outdoor screen, a shaded patio (and fans), great food, and a diverse beer and wine selection (including an excellent sangria). We'll get seated and place our food and drink orders starting at 7:00 p.m., movie will begin at about 7:30 p.m.. Drinks and food will be available throughout the movie (kitchen closes at 9:00 p.m.). Plot Description: Ron Howard's adaptation of Peter Morgan's play about the historic 1977 television interviews between the glib British journalist and the disgraced ex-president. Nixon sat with Frost for a total of 28 hours of interviews, but as per their contractual agreement, it was only in the last two days that they approached the heart of the matter: the Watergate burglary and the ensuing cover-up. (This portion of the real Nixon/Frost interviews has just been released on DVD.) Frost's background as a lightweight celebrity journalist in the United Kingdom, along with his decidedly un-American proposal to pay Nixon for an interview, left the former president and his handlers convinced that this was a reputation-saving puff piece in the making. Instead, after letting Nixon hedge and pontificate his way through the first few interviews, Frost nailed him to the wall on Watergate, eliciting the closest thing Nixon would ever make to a confession of wrongdoing—not to mention the more chilling moment in which the former president made the now-famous assertion, "When the president does it, that means it's not illegal." Frost/Nixon tells the story not only of this journalistic rumble in the jungle, but of the months of power-jockeying, fund-raising, and test prep that went into it. To prep him on the details of Nixon's life and career, Frost hires a research team: political journalist Bob Zelnick (Oliver Platt) and Nixon-obsessed author James Reston (Sam Rockwell). This Laurel and Hardy-like pair watches from the sidelines as Frost screws up repeatedly during the taping, too self-satisfied to learn from his mistakes but careerist enough to realize that he's sinking fast. The Hub is a great location with a huge outdoor screen, a shaded patio (and fans), great food (fish tacos are my favorite), and a diverse beer and wine selection (including an excellent sangria). Here's our opportunity to see the Oscar winning movie Slumdog Millionaire. If you've read the book, join the Beer & Cookies Book Club discussion earlier in the day. Otherwise, feel free to come out to see the movie at 7:30 p.m. The Hub is a great location with a huge outdoor screen, great food (fish tacos are my favorite), and a diverse beer and wine selection. Plot Description: Jamal Malik is a street kid who has landed an appearance on India's version of the hit TV game show WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE? Jamal exceeds expectations on the show, and the producers alert the police after they become suspicious of his methods. The young contestant is subsequently arrested and is interrogated at the hands of a nameless police inspector. As the interrogation proceeds, we learn of Jamal's story through harrowing flashbacks that both show the terrible poverty of Mumbai and help explain how he knew the answers to the MILLIONAIRE questions. The contrast between Jamal's upbringing and his chance of escaping it on the show are adeptly juxtaposed. Mumbai is portrayed as a place of terrifying poverty and unforgettable brutality, and Jamal and his brother get into a never-ending succession of challenging situations.
