Have you ever contra danced before? If so, how long have you been contra dancing?

Yes. Six and a half years.

Do you do any other kinds of dancing? If so, what styles do you do?

Square dancing and English country dancing.

Other than liking the dance style, what's the one thing that makes you want to come back to another dance?

Contra dancing is a Zen-like experience, where you get to dance and interact with everyone. I especially enjoy helping newcomers learn the essentials of contra dancing.

Where do you get most of your information about upcoming dance events?

Emails and hand-out sheets.

Introduction

I enjoy contra dancing immensely, and would like to share the joys of contra dancing with others.

What James B. H. is saying about this Meetup Group

Austin has a large and active community of contra dancers, and plenty of talented musicians who play at our events. We organize at least six contra dances in Austin each month (sometimes more). And once a year, around Halloween, we host "Fire Ant Frolic" - a three day weekend of contra dancing with truly exceptional musicians and caller. Contra dancers fly in from around the country for THIS event. But all of our dances are great fun. It is like piloting a cooperative and intelligent river - with the caller, the music, and fellow dancers all helping you through the maneuvers. We welcome you to join us every Wednesday night, and on the First Friday and Third Saturday of each month.
