Turkey Ride South

Great time with all the crazy Turkeys.. come out and ride a blend of a few routes.  This is the general direction I'd like to go.  Route is not set in stone and there is a way to cut some miles off.  If we leave at 8:30 we should be back by 12:30 including stops.

Comment and let me know if we need to shorten the route?? I can get a nice 40-43 mile route and cut off 10 miles and have us back by 11:45ish.

Thanks and pass this on so we can have a great group..

Thanks to Mike for organizing and to Donald for leading the 28-mile group. I enjoyed the company, the scenery and the workout! I hope you all enjoy your holiday!

I figured we would ride a couple of hours maximum so if others have a similar timeframe in mind, I am in.

I printed turn x turn sheets for the short route. 33 miles or could even make it 25 -- two different options where to turn off Old Lockhart Hwy.

Depending on how cold it is, I might do the really short route. Like one lap around the parking lot and back for a latte!

I need to be somewhere @ 11:30 so this is my variation -- about 33 miles: http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/329521319 Anybody wants to do less than the full ride please feel welcome to join me, otherwise when we get to McKinney Falls I will be on my own, or maybe with Bob. I will enjoy the group for the first 15!

What's the pace of this ride?

    1 · November 24, 2013

I'm thinking 14-17 would be typical with this group, depending on weather, wind, who shows, etc. For my part anything over 16 would please me. 17 probably means a younger stronger guy towed me through most of it!

What's the steepest grade? Makes difference what bike I ride! Some look pretty steep!

Haven't ridden this exact route per se but it is generally flat south and east (and north) of town. A few rollers. No killer climbs.

I'm down for the full distance- looking at the map, is the route clockwise or counter?

Looks like a nice route. Sorry I can't join you all, will be riding down to the Turkey Trot to support friends and family running. Have a great ride and happy Thanksgiving.

That looks like a good route!

I need to be by Slaughter and Manchaca by 11:30 latest. I could take a shortcut back on my own if it comes to that. I would be up for taking off earlier no problem. Just my one vote and I can make it work whatever the group decides, just might have to leave the group part way..

I might come with guests. Thoughts a on a route yet MB?

Looking fwd to a TDay ride. If you're still considering routes, last year I took Congress from my house [Slaughter & Manchaca] into town for the TTrot. Then back home in plenty of time to nosh & nap the day away. Just a thought.

I will go if it is over early so I can make 11:30 TGiving dinner at my stepson/daugher-in-law's house. Re' Starbucks: Starbucks does not serve cyclists in their drive-throughs by national policy. There are a couple of VERY friendly locally owned coffee shops in that immediate area.
