Emily's Tasty-Up Trailer Tour!!

Austin has some amazing culinary adventures in the form of food trailers.  If you've never done this before it's a "Can't Afford To Miss" event!

The Tasty-Up Trailer Tour was a big city wide event last year that our group went on and had a blast - all day long.

You can see a few photos of some of the gang that stayed out goofing off downtown on bikes long after the tour was over last year here:

Emily, one of Austin Cycling Meetup's original Assistant Organizers (who is now too busy running her bookkeeping empire to host) loved this event last year so much that she's using it to celebrate her birthday!

We'll meetup to roll from the Lamar Pedestrian Bridge at 10AM.  Don't be late lest you miss the fun!

1st stop Flip Happy Crepes - 400 Jessie St., Opens at 10am
2nd stop Osmo's Cajun Kitchen/Sushi A-Go-Go/Snowcones - 801 Barton Springs Road, Opens at 12pm
3rd stop Torchy's Tacos/Holy Cacao - 1311 South 1st Street
4th stop Mighty Cone/Hey Cupcake - 1600 South Congress
Maybe some Gingerman if we aren't too stuffed to move - 301 Lavaca St

Here's a map.  (You have to hit "Get Directions" to see it.)

Approximately a 5 mile route without any serious hills or obstacles.

Additional destinations might include Barton Springs Pool, other trailers, other bars, or anything else that sounds like a good/terrible idea at the time.

Emily will update Facebook along the tour for anyone who wants to join in as we go.  Here profile is here:

Add her and say "Hello" if you want to enjoy the feed that day or join us mid-route.

**Eat WHATEVER you want on Saturday and join us on Sunday to ride 20 miles or so to burn off all those nasty unnecessary calories!**

Fun ride! Interesting people and some tasty cuisine. Could have squeezed in a few more miles to balance the caloric intake, but will defer that to another day

Thanks for helping me celebrate! It was a wonderful day, and I want to thank everyone for coming out in the scorching heat.

I will try to put together several more like this one, so if you have any suggestions on themes, let me know.

If you are trying to find me on Facebook, try

To see the inspiration for our Social rides see the Social Cycling ATX photo album on Facebook at: A handful of our group's earliest members enjoyed the vibe on these rides and have been inspired to create the food tour/bar hop kind of rides for us!

Hey, JD, this is definitely a ride, but of the purely Social (with a capital "s" rather than "social" the way I used it yesterday!) genre. Still with me? Most the peeps at this ride will be in mountain bike or street clothes. And you won't be completely out of sorts if you have to break out some spandex to be comfortable. Whatever floats your boat! The ride is only a few miles long and will be conversational pace.
