BSS Women's Ride Day

Join Bicycle Sport Shop at the Parmer store for Women’s Ride Day. Bring your road bike, helmet and a smile. This is a great opportunity to ride in an easy-paced and friendly atmosphere followed by refreshments and a chance to socialize.

Our mechanic, will set up the stand for pre-ride checks and minor adjustments before the ride. However, if it's been a while since your last ride or if you have any questions about the state of your bike, we strongly suggest that you bring your bike to any one of our service counters for a free safety check prior to the day of the ride.

12, 25 and 40 mile routes will be available. We'll have a ride leader and sweeper for each distance.  Don't forget, you can always turn around on Parmer and head back to the shop if you decide you have had enough fun for the day.

The ride was extremely well organized. A lot of emphasis on safe road skills.

Yeah I didn't find you guys either, asked a couple of strangers wearing purple tops with no luck. When I got home I saw the photo on my computer. I also did the 25, so at least we were together in spirit.

Believe me, Cindy and I were cussing the whole way there. I called her en route whining: "Who's idea was it to get up at 6 effing o'clock?"

This has some potential since it is early and probably not so hot :) I wonder if I can get up that early and get all the way up north in time. Can someone suggest something to put on my pedals so my toes don't hit the wheel when I turn?

I know what you mean, you might need a fitting (which you have to schedule). I had the same concern and had to buy a different bike. You could have an easier fix, ask the guys. My bike has a smaller wheel so I don't struggle with that problem anymore.

Well I almost made it! I was up at 6:30am, but I wouldn't have made it to north Austin in time. I even already had my bike in the car. Maybe next time I'll be successful. Let me know how it went :)

Okay, chicas, I'm a bad organizer. Got too busy today to pick up the red balloon. Look for me and Cindy in one of two places: either in area right in front of the grassy area opposite the front door; or near the front door or registration table if there is one. I'm sorry! I'll have on a purple sleeveless jersey and short black tri pants. Have a black carbon bike. See you there! Take my cell number in case you can't eyeball me. [masked]

Okay, ladies, since we're amassing such a group I'll bring a red balloon to tie to my bike for those who don't know me yet. Will meet you in front of the grassy area between the store and Parmer. Just off the parking area. (Ugh, can't believe I'm getting up in the dark to drive across town!)

I am fairly new to cycling and did the Bee Cave Sunday ride this past Sunday. It was 16 miles total that I did and I was way behind everyone else. I'm wondering if I should practice more riding before joining one of this length. Is this ride really hilly. Welcome advice :)

I will be hanging with you. I got a computer so I can work on my speed. I want enjoy the read.

      August 13, 2012

    • Allison

Hey, Alice, I'll hang with you, too. And Parmer is REALLY flat compared to Bee Cave. No worries, you'll be fine.

Marilyn, I'm not sure what you're referring to, but if you read the details above you'll see an offer for a pre ride bike check. I guarantee the BSS crew will be able to fix you up and/or answer questions. Good luck!
