Overview of Opscode Chef

The learning curve for Opscode Chef is steep.  Understanding how the major pieces fit together is a big step towards implementation.

Boyd Hemphill will give a high level demonstration of operation Opscode Chef, explaining the following concepts and how they are related:

  • Hosted Chef v. Private Chef v. Open Source Chef
  • Nodes
  • Cookbooks/Recipes/Resources
  • Environments
  • Attributes
  • Data Bags

If you are considering Chef you should leave with a good idea of how to get started setting up your implementation.  If you are currently using Chef you may pick up some tips you did not know, or contribute some as well.

I mentioned it during the session, but there is a "MEETUP" discount code for 10% off the Chef Introductory Workshop next month.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
