I've been trying to set up a rotating images banner, which consists of
setting up a content type and view. ?I keep getting an error message
regarding mixed collations, after creating the content type, and
while/after creating the view. Question 1: When creating a content
type, where is the collation for the corresponding tables specified?
Is this something I need to set within mysql (beforehand), rather than
Question 2. What type of collation should be used? I found differing
answers on drupal.org-- one (older) said *all* Drupal tables should
use utf8-unicode-ci; another said unicode wasn't "ready," so
utf8-general-ci should be used.
During the course of a few attempts of deleting the content type &
view and starting all over, I used a php script to change all
collation on the tables, then edited directly in phpMyadmin. ?I
finally installed DBtuner, infinitely easier.
At one point last night, I noticed in phpmyadmin (and of course, can't
find that screen now) underneath the list of tables, which all had
utf8-general-ci (at that point, I think!) there was some sort of
summary of rows at the bottom, and it listed the collation as
utf8-unicode-ci, although I didn't see it anywhere in any of the
As for the rotating banner, at one point, I actually saw the banner on
the front page, unfortunately, it wasn't in the header. ? Back to the
drawing board. :)
