At our recent social meetup at Banger's, we discussed some ideas for a book club logo, and I volunteered to put one together. Here it is. Let me know what y'all think!

I really, really like this...the swords & light sabers with the book is AWESOME! Personally, I like the coffee & beer clip art, but for a logo, I would suggest maybe simplifying it by removing those two items? But then again, it may look too bland without them...hmmm... I'd love to hear others thoughts on this...

I like the idea, but I think of light sabers as derived from fantasy

On a related note, is violence necessary for a successful science fiction or fantasy novel? The nearest I can come to suggesting otherwise is to mention The Left hand of Darkness.

Dude. That logo rocks. Let's put it on a bunch of stuff! Robert -- I seem to recall some violence in The Left Hand of Darkness... either punches thrown, or someone attacked... I don't remember the details. There was also something that felt inherently violent about the transformation between genders.

Yeah, I seem to recall some conflict in LHOD too. But not all-out war complete with atrocities by any means.

I appreciate the kind words, Victoria and Alisha! :) Robert: Your comments got me thinking about the weapons in the logo design, so I'm working on an alternate design that's a little more peaceful. Dragons and rocketships can symbolize fantasy and SF at least as well as swords and lightsabers. I'll post the design here whenever it's finished. Thanks for the feedback, everybody!

Chris, your original design was great - it just got me thinking too. I'm looking forward to seeing what else you create!
