Savor the Spice of Life: Wine-Paired Four Course Dinner at Thai Spice Westlake

There are a few food/wine pairings that are pretty much no-brainers: oysters with Chablis, duck with Pinot Noir, steak with Cabernet Sauvignon. But what in the world do you pair with the diverse flavors of Thai food?

Thai dishes can be sweet while savory, and many of the spicy sauces can downright rock your world (not to mention your sinuses)!  Well…what do you say we engage in a little experimentation with an interesting lineup of highly rated wines, paired up with some of the best Thai food dishes our city has to offer?

We invite you to join us in the beautiful private banquet room of Thai Spice Café Westlake for a special dinner prepared exclusively for our Meetup group.  Owner Vicki Vicha will be cooking up a family style menu of her authentic Thai cuisine, prepared just like her mother made back in the homeland.  Michael has personally selected an assortment of delicious wines that should pair nicely with each of our four courses.  The Rosé Champagne is simply amazing, rated 94 points by Wine Spectator.  Here’s our complete menu for the evening.

Course One

•  Dumplings – rice tart, chicken, pea and carrot

•  Soft Spring Roll – shrimp, carrot, cucumber, green leaf and rice paper

•  Coconut Shrimp – shrimp in shredded coconut batter

Served with: Henriot Brut Rosé Champagne NV (94 pts Wine Spectator)

Course Two

•  Papaya Salad – green papaya, green bean, tomato, carrot, crushed peanut, fish sauce, Thai chili

Served with: Becker Vineyards Viognier 2012 (Silver Medal Winner at the 2013 International Wine Competition of Lyon, France)

Course Three

•  Grilled Salmon – steamed broccoli and chili sauce

•  Garlic Shrimp – shrimp and mixed vegetables in a garlic sauce

Served with: Franciscan Oakville Estate Chardonnay Napa Valley 2012 (89 pts Cellar Tracker)

Course Four

•  Slow Cooked Beef Panang – served with white coconut rice

Served with: Chateau Ste. Michelle Riesling Columbia Valley 2012 (89 pts Wine Spectator)

Our evening starts at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 15th.  We are pleased to offer this incredible wine dinner for $58 per person, which includes both tax and gratuity.

Thai Spice Westlake is located at 3600 N. Capital of Texas Hwy., West Lake Hills, TX 78746 (just across the parking lot from Trento). Parking is free.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Hi Margie. It's going to be a festival of flavors so I hope you can "swing" it! There's no deadline to register, but keep an eye on our seating limit of 45. Regards, Michael
