Still would like to host a mardi GRAS party if I am not having surgery during that time. I should know Jan 17th about.
Also still interested in trying to get a limo for spring.

Hope you all had a wonderful holiday! One of our members, Ruby Dee, has recently published a cookbook. The release party and book signing is happening at the Continental Club on Saturday, January 7th from 10pm-2am. She also is the lead singer of a Grammy nominated group, "Ruby Dee and the Snakehandlers." I'm very excited about it and the opportunity to support one of our Food and Wine lovers. I hope you all can join me in celebrating Ruby Dee, and in the enjoyment of hearing some great live music!! Please see below for details. There will also be a posting on the message board.
RUBY’S JUKE JOINT AMERICANA COOKBOOK RELEASE & GRAMMY-NOMINATED
RUBY DEE AND THE SNAKEHANDLERS at THE CONTINENTAL CLUB
With Special Guests The Modern Don Juans, Teri Joyce, Gina Lee, Earl Poole Ball & more
Saturday, January 7th,[masked]pm-2am
1315 South Congress Ave Austin, TX 78704
Ruby Dee, of Ruby Dee and the Snakehandlers, has written a high octane roots-oriented cookbook with 120 original Americana recipes accompanied by tidbits of information and stories about each dish, and a CD of great Americana music to cook by. While all the recipes are Ruby’s own, a plethora of talented Texas musicians added spice to the flavorful CD that accompanies the book.
Grammy-nominated Ruby Dee and the Snakehandlers will perform from 10pm-12am at Ruby’s home away from home, The Continental Club, and The Modern Don Juans will close the night out while Ruby signs copies of her book. Ruby’s Juke Joint Americana Cookbook will be available in stores January 10th at all the usual places: Amazon, Barnes and Noble, for ipad, independent and major book stores, music stores, and specialty groceries such as Central Market and Whole Foods.
Ruby will also be joined by The Snakehandlers at Book People on Wednesday January 11th 7pm-8:30pm for a bit of music and discussion about Americana cuisine and culture, Q&A, and book signing.
