IOCC Fundraiser/ Fathers Day BBQ

The IOCC (International Orthodox Christian Charities) is hosting a BBQ fundraiser. There will be a live auction, games, live music and dance lessons. Tickets are free for children under 12.

This is a family and singles friendly event. A great time for a great cause! The event will be held at the Transfiguration church grounds.

IMPORTANT: Tickets must be purchased in advance at: http://www.iocc.org/austin

Katerina and I will arrive early as we are volunteering. Others may want to arrange to car pool. Hope to see you there!

Yesterday's fundraiser/ BBQ was a great time. I enjoyed learning more about the IOCC and all the great causes they support. You can learn more at http://iocc.org. Thanks to Katerina and Kim for joining! Katerina proved she is a natural Texan. It was her first time two-stepping and she was flawless. Kim was very close to acquiring a basket of gourmet coffee at the auction.. would have been great for our next potluck. I managed to avoid a riot while manning the children's arts and crafts table. Overall a successful event.

      I don’t understand:
Why do they have a deadline (almost a week) before the event? Why not allow people to purchase up to the event date? Is it really a problem? This is 2013! It is also a Greek (meaning last minute-or late) event. Do they not know Greeks?

The caterer requires confirmation on number of people 5 days before the event. I agree that it will be a challenge as most people - especially Greeks - tend to buy tickets last minute.
