Tavli – Santorini Café

Here is Tavli: Round 2. Seems like everyone is itching to play.

This is the Santorini Café page:

Here is their menu:

I also found a perfect prize: For the winner who doesn’t have to wipe any tears.

To get you ready, I tried to find a fitting song (besides Rocky). I don’t know of any songs about tavli, but here is something close about chess (warning: blast from the past, so watch out). I think they should make a song: One Night in Athens! (about tavli).

Lastly, How do you get to Carnegie Hall?...PRACTICE!

hi all - got home late, will see you at the next one in July. inquiring minds want to know who won! and lost!

I hope everyone is rested (their rolling arm) and ready!

    Schedule of play:
If we had 8 people we could have done a bracket system. But instead, we will play best result:

Each player (in this group) will play each player once. The player with the most wins after all games are played is the winner, and follows each place to the player with the least wins is the loser.
I will bring scorecards to keep record.

In the event of a tie at any place, whereas 2 or more players have the same result, these players who are tied will play each other once more to determine position. Except winner/loser tie-breaker, the others are optional.
After we have all results everyone can play whoever/however they like again and again.

Relax. It is all fun and food, so no need for too serious, but still more fun when something to play/try for to make it interesting.

Please show up on time, or not too far Greek time.
If you have any questions/comments, just ask.

As a consolation prize to the loser, I'd like to offer my official 2004 Athens Olympics plastic bag. Preserved and gently used for almost 10 years, it is the perfect memento for anyone who wishes to take their hopes and dreams home with them.

      ummm...so you're giving yourself a prize? j/k

Now that I cursed myself (by opening my mouth) I'll probably end up with it.

Good idea having a 'sacko' prize as well. I probably would have found something less desirable and more insulting, but this works also.

I sent the event to the greek students mailing list and facebook site. I will also bring my tavli.

    Dear Dimitris,
Please feel free to invite the other Greeks you know (your entourage/para troopers).

    June 17, 2013

    • Anthony

Really? And you call yourself Greek? :)

Tell me...what if you got into an argument/dispute with a Greek guy? How would you resolve things without a Tavli board?
I hope you at least have a Tavli app or something.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
