About the group
Here we are in the 'live music capital of the world' with a seemingly endless number of opportunities to experience music. With so many bands out there to choose from it can be difficult to figure out what to see, where to go, and who you can drag along with you in that process. Too often we have a band we love but none of our friends share the same feeling. We end up going to shows alone, standing their awkwardly as they transition from one band to the next, and when the band does start we find ourselves not being able to grab a drink or go to the bathroom for fear of losing our spot.
This is where the group comes in. In the least, find someone who can be your place holder. You don't even have to like them! How great is that! Go to the bathroom at will! Know at least one person is going to support you when you attempt to crowd surf! Drink all the drinks you want! In fact, the more you drink the more you will probably like the person holding that spot for you! Maybe you will like them anyway, cause after all they like the same music you do! It really all works out in the end.
This group is for people who want to share some music they love while learning about new bands along the way. Whatever type of music goes. If you like a band there is a good chance someone else out there does as well, or at least wouldn't mind joining you in checking it out. 'Indie' goes far and wide, so feel free to post some shows and make some new friends!
Suggest venues, shows, and bands!
Please suggest new venues, shows, and bands! Any genre! This group is growing and becoming more active and you should be able to find someone else interested in seeing the show you want to go to. Meetup groups cant exist without the people involved in them. As an organizer I am just here to provide the space for people to interact. I can't go to every show and I am sure some of you don't like the music I do. Sometimes I just want to be grumpy and hide at home. Therefore to make this group active and to learn about some new music you have to participate.
You can post any show you like so long as you are willing to play host. Playing host means you are going to play the role of bringing people together - suggest a meetup spot, provide your contact information, start the conversation, smile and nod a lot during loud parts. Your reward is you get to give the thumbs up as you happily stroll away to leisurely use the bathroom and drink all the drinks without fear of losing that perfect spot in spitting range of the lead singer. As in getting spit on, not you spitting at them cause that is a jerk move.
