First Night Austin (www.firstnightaustin.org) is THE News Years Eve event for the city. There will be thousands of people downtown checking out the art and exhibits, listening to bands, staking their spot for the midnight fireworks over the lake, etc.
Imagine: Everywhere you turn, you see a person wearing a Ron Paul shirt or carrying a sign. Let's show Austin we really ARE everywhere!
Here's the plan:
We need a ton of people to attend the event with their Ron Paul gear (shirts, buttons, signs, etc) and help spread the word about Ron Paul. We'll be meeting at Auditorium Shores as close to first street as possible (look for the Ron Paul Blimp), where we'll have a mobile Ron Paul headquarters booth set up with all the material you'll need.
From there, we'll all spread out in smaller groups, armed with slim-jims, stickers, signs, clipboards, etc and go out to the crowds to canvas and engage folks in conversation, hand out stuff, get people's email and pct #s.
The booth itself will have a dvd set up to play all of our favorite RP videos with a loudspeaker attached. We'll hand out slim-jims, stickers, signs, voter info, etc. We're even working on getting free hot cocoa or cider to draw visitors. The canvassers can send people back to the booth to watch videos, register to vote, etc.
But wait... There's more!
We can't forget our very own BLIMP! We're going to parade around the event with our Ron Paul BLIMP. That will certainly get some attention, especially when it lands at City Hall around 6:30 when the big parade kicks off. Oh, we'll even have folks dressed up in costume so if you have something, wear it! This is all about attracting positive attention for the good Dr and finding ways to enlighten people about Ron Paul.
Oh, we're also putting together a group of people to make Ron Paul inspired chalk mural (led by Charles) on the First Street Bridge as part of the "Big Draw" art exhibit. We get to finally "legally" make some Ron Paul graffiti.
It's all going to be incredible! But we need you at attend to make it happen. So please RSVP today to let us know you'll be there. Let's ring in the new year Ron Paul style!
PS: If you can't make it at 2:30, just show up when you can. It will be going on for a while. And if you can't find us, just call me at[masked] or my husband Val at[masked]-5474. We'll help ya out.
