For a first meetup without agenda I thought it went pretty well. Thanks to all the attendees. It was a fun evening filled with discussions about what each of us wanted to get out of this meetup. We have also planned our next 2 events.

It was a great start. I'm looking forward to learning from everyone.

The same teacher gives the same class on Coursera.org, in a much more user-friendly format. Its also more focused on the application of ML versus the underlying Math theory.

So far we have 5 people attending. Like I said I don't know much about the various meeting spots around Austin. Going by Yelp reviews this seems like a good place -

Any other suggestions? BTW: I do not have a set agenda for the meetup so feel free to through out some ideas if you think that would make it more productive.

Sridhar, Epoch is a nice place but crowded and sometimes noisy. I am not sure whether it has a room where we can discuss code and what not. You may prefer to reserve the room at Monkey Nest, <http://www.yelp.com/b...;. They only require that we buy enough stuff. Andrew P.S. My suggestion of using Monkey Nest has exactly nothing to do with the fact that they are walking distance from my home. ;-)

I live next to the UT campus, anything close to there would be best for me

    Hi George/Andrew,

Any suggestions for a venue - I live close to 3M near RM 2222 & FM 620. I'm relatively new to Austin. Please suggest someplace where we could exchange ideas and chat?

    Best Regards,
    Sridhar

I live in North Central Austin (2222 & Burnet). You know there are other groups in Austin, right? <http://tech.groups.ya...;. There are also the Austin semantic web folks.
