Building Friendships & Learning Culture through Food: A Korean Food Affair

I was thrilled to read that the Asian population is the second fastest growing ethnic group in Austin.

For one, it is an opportunity to celebrate the diversity of the Pan-Asian culture and their contributions to American history and identity. As an immigrant student in the late 70's I shared ESL classroom experience with many Korean, Lao Hmong, Taiwanese and Vietnamese immigrant students. For our sixth-grade talent show I participated in a Vietnamese traditional dance. I recall the beautiful slow movements with fondness.

Another is the diversity of Asian ethnic cuisine, a favorite comfort food of mine is Bi Bi Bop, a Korean rice dish. What I have found most inviting to Korean cuisine is the array of tapas like dishes that come before your meal. We are working with Chu Sun Golbi Korean BBQ and Grill to help us create for you a memorable cultural experience, and introduction if you have never tasted Korean BBQ.

*** For this event we will plan a pre-order pre-paid registration to help facilitate an easier final tally. ***

I hope you will join us!

It was a great gathering of new and familiar friends! I really appreciated our host Denny for informing us of the significance of the fermentation and why it is so popular in Korean cuisine! Food was amazing, particular the Korean BBQ ribs that Stephanie shared with me! I do have to apologize for forgetting to take pictures, I was busy stuffing my face :)

I want to thank everyone who could make it last night. I know with hectic schedules and being a work/school night it might have been tough for others to get out and mingle. Perhaps a weekend Dim Sum gathering is in store :)

We have several meet-up opportunities in April for you to join us, we hope to see you then! Sending everyone an abundance of Peace and Love and I hope you have a productive rest of the week! Until next time!

Folks, I was just informed that we can turn any dish on ChuSun's menu to vegetarian - meat/eggs can be substituted for tofu or root vegetables.
