Just a quick note to let you know that we have a new AMMG member, her name is Simone. She fronts a band by the same name. She and her band are striving to help the environment by recycling old, broken and used CD's.
The following is her message:
"Hi Larry - my name is Simone and I stumbled upon your Meetup group while searching for a like-minded groups around Austin.
My band is dedicated to recycling old/used/broken compact discs and we're trying to get 2,000 lbs by the end of the year. Long story short, the manufacturing and improper destruction of CDs releases lots of bad toxins - there's a pretty extensive study that I can send you if you're interested.
Anyway, we're based in Florida but we'll be in Austin Oct 14 with our recycle bin in tow.
If you think that this is something that your group might be interested in assisting us with I'd love to give you more information. All we want to do is play music, live, love and take better care of our planet."[/color]
I'm planning to schedule a group Meetup to her concert. Check out their sites and listen to some of the songs they've posted. She has a great sound and I think everyone will enjoy seeing them play live.
We can help their cause by bringing some old and weathered CD's so they can reach that magic number. (2000)
Here are a couple links to their website & myspace pages. If you have any questions you can always contact her directly.
AMMG is open to all who are: enthusiastic, have a passion for music, interested in singing, writing, playing instruments, and lively discussions.
We'll have a variety of events in different locations. Many of our Meetups will also include an informal jam session.
This free-flowing group is created for music lovers that would like to socialize, network and get to know others that all share this common interest.
Even if you've never even picked up an instrument in your life --- everyone is welcome to join! Members are encouraged to participate and share personal experiences, knowledge, stories and trivia with everyone in the group.
Be sure to watch the calendar and check out our group pictures in the 'photos' section.
