Model shoot in the park #1

We've got a couple (Yes that means two!) of models to work with on Saturday the 28th. Location will be BULL CREEK PARK, just off of 360. If you get there from 360 then the 3rd lot will be the closest to our starting point. This park has a very large range of features within close proximity so should be a wonderful place for us to work.
Returning for a second appearance is Kiara (MM#[masked]) and making a first, hopefully of many, appearance is Deviance Xana (MM#[masked]). This meetup will be run pretty much the same as our last, meaning everyone (photogs and models) will sign a TF contract and we will place a lot of import on getting our VOLUNTEER models some shots to use in their portfolios. The shoot itself will be primarily a beauty / portrait type shoot, but there may be a few twists. Water, Cookies, and Soda will be available.
If you happen to be using Buff equipment, bringing your cybersync transmitter would be a good idea.

Hey everyone - Jim has posted a topic in the 'Discussions' forum that you may want to check out. We're looking to get some ideas from the membership as to what types of shoots/themes each of you might want to see down the line. We know that - based upon this last meetup - that there are tons of very talented and creative folks out there. So lets hear your ideas on perhaps what (or where) you'd like to photograph next!

Fantastic group of friendly and helpful people. The only thing keeping this from being 5 stars is that I hope we can discuss aesthetic more in advance (in this case the two models had incredibly different looks in all their outfits and I would have liked at least one set with some sort of cohesion). All around fantastic group!

What a great group of people!! I won't remember everyone's name but everyone was so positive and helpful! Can't wait until the next one. By the way Jim, do you have a Facebook page for this group. That would be a great way to keep in touch and share thoughts and ideas. See you soon. xoxo

Anna, it was good meeting you! Glad you could make the meetup. Perhaps we'll see you at future meetings and.....oh, I dunno.....maybe over at Mayfield Park? But with the proper photographer permit issued by the COA PARD, right? lol

    Alright folks,
That was quite a lot of fun today. I was surprised at the many talents that were evident, especially in the posing and creative staging areas, and am positive that we can have some creative, fun meetups in the future.

The email addresses of our models today are
    [masked] (hippie girl)
    [masked] (vampira)
Show them some love and share your shots with them.

As a side note - I seem to have come away from the clean up with an extra foot stool. Seems like a short guy brought it. Shoot me a message about how you want to go about claiming it please.

    Thanks for coming everybody!

Michael, Jim has posted each model's email address (above). Aside from posting images to this meetup site, please send each model their images via email as well. Thanks.

Michael, I'm also going to be up around the arboretum several times today. Pick a time and maybe we can do a handoff on the road that runs in front of the duck pond / water fountain. I drive a white / black Soul.

I would be pleased to shoot with you all again any time!

Hey thanks! It was one of the first times I tried doing that kind of photo... Looking forward to the next meet up...

Good morning all. I'm wondering if the models want to be tagged in Facebook. If so, how can we get their Facebook name? THX xoxo

Found Deviance Xana! Now to find Kiara!

Anna, the arrangement we have with the models (at this point) is to simply ensure that they receive emailed images. You are free, however, to make that inquiry (regarding Facebook) in your email when delivering the images. Thanks!

Today's meetup was awesome! I really enjoyed meeting everyone. Lots of talent out there today. And hat's off to our models. They did a really good job. Great job, Jim, on putting this one together. Looking forward to coordinating our next one.

Oh yeah (almost forgot), Maggie if you're reading this I'd like to know how much your daughter would charge to come along and assist me on my next model portfolio shoot! LOL. She's was a total rock star today! It truly was great meeting everyone today. Already looking forward to seeing you folks at our next meetup!!!!

Was looking through the images I got today and was kind of surprised to find a story, vampiric of course, embedded in them. Thanks, folks!

Bill, Watching/learning? With that much experience under your belt? That, in addition to your saying you just got your first DSLR? Very cool. Bring that new camera with you and come share your experience with the rest of us! That's what the APG is all about! Us amateurs/hobbyist can only benefit from having experienced folks such as yourself coming along and diving right in. Looking forward to seeing you at the meetup - with that new DSLR! :)

I don't have a problem contracts, but this will be primarily a watching/learning experience for me. I'm just getting back into photography and my equipment is very limited. When I was doing pro work, the Mamiya 330 was the hot ticket. Does that date me or what?

    September 27, 2013

  • jimkski

The TF contract is very simple. In short, it allows both the photographer and the model to use the photos for portfolio / self promotion only, in print or digital form. No commercial use (ie selling ) is allowed. In consideration of the models time the photographer agrees to provide a minimum of 1 photo for use as listed above. Each of the models will sign a single contract and all of the photographers will sign one for each model. Lee, or I, will keep the contract on file and provide copies (or you could just take a picture of it) as needed. Now between you, me and the shutter button, I expect everyone to provide photo(s) commensurate with their skill / experience level, and that has never been a problem.
In the end I want to stress that I feel the models are our guests and should be treated as such.
The reference to "much the same as our last" was very unclear - I'll be more careful about that next time.

    • Jessica

      Thanks for the clarification!

      September 26, 2013

    • jimkski

Absolutely. The way I see this, us photographers get a chance to practice, and the models, in addition to getting a few really good shots for their portfolios, get to try and make connections with photographers that they enjoy, and are stylistically interested in working with.

      September 26, 2013

  • Richard J.

It would be nice to understand what the models would like Traded For their work if that is contained within the oath.

    September 26, 2013

  • Jerry

You say in your information "This meetup will be run pretty much the same as our last, meaning everyone (photogs and models) will sign a TF contract and we will place a lot of import on getting our VOLUNTEER models some shots to use in their portfolios."

I didn't go to whichever meet-up this is reffering too and know that there are several types or different requirments for the photographers and models in TF (time for) contracts. Can a copy be posted or emailed before the meetup? I have no problem providing photos for the models but would like to know what will be expected ...if you could.
    Thanks

Anthony, Thanks for joining the APG and for your offer to bring any needed equipment. It looks as though we may have a pretty good turnout for this meetup. That's great! Given that we will be utilizing Buff gear (couple of BD's and 800 Bees), it wouldn't hurt to bring along any extra transmitters you might care to bring which could be used by those in attendance who have never worked with remote lighting outdoors, etc. We'll also have some speedlights, vagabond mini's, and a portable changing station too. So anything you feel you'd care to add to the mix, please feel free. Your participation is more than welcome. Thank you for the offer. See you at the meetup!

Do you need any equipment? I use Buff stuff.

There are NO membership fees required for attending the meetup scheduled for September 28th. Much to the contrary. Our membership is comprised of photographers of all skill levels. And everyone has something to share and bring to the table in terms of experience, suggestions, etc. For that reason, we've never wanted these meetups to be fee based. You won't have to worry about paying $49.99 upwards of $149.99 to learn something that we (as a collective group) feel we can provide for free in the vast majority of instances. It's all about sharing knowledge and spending time with like minded folks. All that it WILL cost you is time, an open mind, and a willingness to participate and toss in your own two cents here and there.
