VegFest

Are you veg curious?  Committed to a plant based lifestyle but needing new ideas and inspiration?  Or do you just like being outside and eating great food while drinking local craft beer?  Come with us on April 6 to the Texas Veg Fest.  There will be food, drink, cooking demonstrations, speakers and bands.  It's a very family friendly event with lots of activities geared for kids.  Headliner will be Best-selling cookbook author Isa Chandra Moskowitz.

The Austin Sierra Club will have a booth at Veg Fest this year. Jan Adler will be coordinating the booth and can use help throughout the day. Anyone interested in putting in a two hour shift, please contact me.

The event hosts are requesting a $5 donation at the entrance.  Parking is very limited so this is a good time to learn to use the bus if you aren't already familiar with it. Bus route 22 Chicon Saturday: drops off at the RBJ Health Center west of Fiesta Gardens or East 2nd and Robert Martinez. Bus route 17 Cesar Chavez Eastbound Saturday: drops off at East 2nd and Robert Martinez.  Or go to http://www.capmetro.org/planner/.  There will also be lots of bike parking available. You can find more information on the event including a list of vendors and food providers on their website http://www.texasvegfest.com/ Let's meet at the front gate at 12:30pm.  Co-leader Martha will be wearing a pink baseball cap with sparkles.

I never found the group, either, but I did meander about all day and "pig out" on yummy vegan food.

Was looking forward to it. Tried to do public transportation (something I have never done) followed the info on the Metro web site but when I got there realized it was incorrect. By the time I figured it out felt it was too late to get back to my car and hunt for parking. Was it fun?

    Well,
when I finally made it from Round Rock, i was about an hour late and I brought my dog so I couldn't stay. Try not to judge to harshly. I'm new to the area and the traffic. Sure wished I had known about the dog though.

I could still use some help from 4-6 PM and any other time any of you would care to spend time in the Sierra Club booth.
I have Stephanie from 10-12; Sue from 2-4; and hopefully Mary Ann from 12-2PM.
    Thanks to all!

    Hello all,
There isn't much to do regarding set up and break down as Veg Fest supplies us with our table, two chairs and our tent. The event goes from 10 AM to 6 PM. These are the hours that I can use help.
Two hours shifts is an arbitrary amount of time, but I think a reasonable one. If you would like to work longer, we can accommodate you.
So, If you would send me an email, I will compile a list and contact you with the times and who you may be sharing that time with. Please send me your email and cell phone when you send your email.
    Thank you all very much,
    Jan (Yon) Adler

Sue, new to the Austin Sierra Club, though not Sierra Club in general. Would love to man a booth. Help me get to know people. Thanks.

I don't have details about volunteering in the Sierra Club booth (hope I can tho). I signed up directly on the VegFest website before knowing about the SC booth.

Jan - I'll be happy to work a shift in the booth if you still need someone. I signed up to be a VegFest volunteer before this posting was out but I'd love to do both!

Jan is listed as the Event Host. Will he be wearing a pink baseball cap with sparkles? I think that's Martha's thing.
