Join us for a hike in Travis County's newest park, Milton Reimers Ranch Park, which is on the Pedernales River. The 2-3 hour hike, following the course of the river and its side canyons, will include some spectacular bluff views of the river, vistas of the world-class rock climbing cliffs, and a stroll along the beautiful river beach. There is some rock scrambling going down and up the bluff, but most of the hike will be on level trails. Bring water, and wear appropriate footwear and a hat.
Dogs on leashes are permitted at Reimers. Please be aware that dogs may provoke otherwise contented rattlesnakes curled in grasses by the trail. Children who are able to hike the distance are welcome. Three to five miles of hiking at a moderate pace.
Meet us at 8:00 AM in the northwest corner of Barton Creek Square Mall to informally arrange carpooling (not organized by Sierra Club). Martha, co-leader, will wear a pink baseball cap with sparkles. Alternatively, meet us at the entrance gate at Reimers Ranch at 9:00am. Optional picnic lunch afterwards.
The entrance fee is $10 per car, which is waived if anyone in the car is at least 62 years old. The Sierra Club appreciates a small donation to support our conservation and outreach programs.
