Mayfield Park/ AMOA Laguna Gloria hike

Mayfield Park and Preserve is an island of restful respite located in the middle of Austin, Texas. Listed in the National Register of Historic Places, this estate was presented to the city of Austin in 1971 by Mary Mayfield Gutsch for all Austinites to enjoy as a park. It includes 2 acres of colorful cottage gardens with towering palm trees, brilliant peacocks and delicate water lilies, all blending in beautiful harmony, as well as 21 acres of nature preserve, walking trails and wildlife habitat.
Laguna Gloria - 3809 W. 35th St. We'll explore the sunken garden with Charles Umlauf's sculpture, the Poetess, the amphitheater, the Four Seasons garden and the Temple of Love. AMOA-Laguna Gloria is an indoor/outdoor venue that consists of twelve acres of some of the most beautiful parkland in central Texas, including a mile of Lake Austin shoreline. Home to the Austin Museum of Art-Laguna Gloria, the site features a Mediterranean-style villa built in 1916 by Clara Driscoll, best known as savior of the Alamo.
Join us afterwards for a bite to eat at a local restaurant.
Directions From Mopac (Loop 1) head north from downtown. Exit at 35th Street and turn left (West). Follow 35th St. until it dead ends. You will pass Camp Mabry, and Mt. Bonnell Road. The entrance to the Mayfield Park is on the left. It's ok to park along the street between Mayfield Park and AMOA - Arthouse Laguna Gloria.
No dogs allowed at either park. In addition to the Sierra Club donation of $2 for member and $3 for non-members.
