These islands are normally under water when the lake is at normal levels, but the lake is over 40 feet low now. We'll hike along the ridgeline of the peninsula and then the shoreline. Lots of great views of the lake and unusual features to see. There is no official trail and the terrain can be rugged at places so bring some good hiking shoes. Also, there is no shade anywhere so bring a hat, sunscreen and water. We'll meet at the east end of the parking lot (the lot closest to the islands).
Dogs are okay, but county rules require them to be on a leash. Bring poop bags.
The Sierra Club appreciates a small donation. The park charges $10 per car, but only charges $3 for pedestrian walk-ins if you want to park outside the park near the dam.
We'll meet for lunch somewhere after the hike.
