Inner City Outings: Volunteer Meet and Greet

  • Jan 30, 2014 · 7:00 PM
  • REI

Inner City Outings (ICO) is the community outreach program of the Sierra Club that provides underprivileged youth an opportunity to experience the outdoors. Austin's ICO chapter organizes trips for local kids, taking them to places such as Enchanted Rock, Pedernales Falls, and McKinney Falls state parks. We'll be discussing our trips for this winter and spring. Learn more about ICO, meet its members, and possibly get involved yourself!

You're welcome to bring something light to eat and a non-alcoholic drink.  We will have light refreshments to snack on also.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer but unable to attend, please send me your personal e-mail address and I'll forward the application form, background check forms and the code of ethics form that are required but our National SC.  My e-mail address is:

Thanks for all the enthusiasm about volunteering with Inner City Outings. A great turnout. I enjoyed visiting with many of you after the presentation. We'll do our best to host lots of ICO outings so that there will be a need for volunteer opportunities.

As has been said, highly informative. Great to meet so many people who are willing--even eager--to share the thrill of nature with kids who otherwise would never get that experience.

I am looking forward to working with group. I hope they can find a task for me as I am differently-abled (out of shape) but I can make it up for it in other ways!

I like the idea of showing kids local wild places, too.

Audrey - agree. If you can recommend a local wild place outing and contact person, that and other ideas are appreciated. Thanks.
