Earth Day Bike Ride

Starting from the Downtown Farmers Market, join us for a 14 mile (round trip) bike ride on city streets to the Austin Earth Day festival at Mueller. The free festival features exhibits, speakers, food, and entertainment, celebrating the Earth. Riders must obey all traffic laws, wear a helmet, have equipment to change a flat tire, and bring a lock.  Groups of riders may head back to the start at different times - a map will be provided.

No helmet -> no bike ride. This seems a little strict in a town such as Austin. Just a thought, but I don't see everyone wearing helmets crossing streets, or trail running. Practicality is my point. Having spent a good portion of my life in trauma medicine, I know that a helmet could save you. There are no guarantees in life.
