What brought you to the words of the Buddha?

I was initially drawn to the "poison arrow" and "burning house" metaphors. Theravadin buddhism is completely unconcerned with the hereafter. One doesn't convert to buddhism; it's a life strategy, a re-training of the mind.

Are you new to Buddhism? Do you practice with some group or center in Austin, and if so which?
