I apologize but I have to cancel. Urgent family issues are preventing me from participating in this cycle.

If anyone should want to borrow either of my kayaks, just let me know. You'll need to pick them up in San Antonio.

When is the next training cycle?

    February 16, 2013

    • Dan

You can actually jump into next week if you would like, because we are running the next cycle right after the last Sunday of this cycle. So you can still get in on 5 consecutive Sunday's. Let us know? Thanks

A little bit about your leader...I finished 3rd in a sprint tri in Kerrville this year, I used to be known and the paddler who lead the pack (not any more...Jim Rankin leads the pack), excited to co sponsor meet-up site with MOC. I've been a slacker the last 4 months and it's time to get back in shape. Life is short, eat dessert first and live the adventure!

Plan A: Devils River is a little known jewel of a river in Southwest Texas. The river flows clear, clean and cold. It is an unpressured fishery full of desert smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, bream, catfish, and carp. The Devils River is one of the toughest, most demanding floats in Texas. It is truly a wilderness float that will test the most hardened adventurer. Plan B: Buffalo National River begins as a trickle in the Boston Mountains, where it flows north and then eastward through the Ozark Mountains until it merges 150 miles later with the White River at Buffalo City. I'm gather facts at this point and nothing is set in stone.

I'd also like to have some idea of the trip.

Also, as a single blader, should I take umbrage about the "kayak" part? :-)

    February 5, 2013

    • Dan

      February 5, 2013

Study guide...SHAPE magazine (Jan/Feb 2013) Article Fast Track to Fit. Can I do all these moves? No way....but I'd like to.

We'll start with stretching, focus on core, arms, and paddle for 1/2 hrs. Throw in a few kayak tips and demo different paddles. Can you do this on your own....for sure. Why join this group?
Commitment to improve your fitness and kayaking skills, meet new people and have fun!

I agree with Gery, I would like to know more about what is the course about.

    January 31, 2013

    • Dan

Hey Roni, detailed curriculum will be out soon via Cathy. General concepts include stroke improvement, core & upper body strengthening, distance/endurance paddling (goal 10-15 miles/day depending on group).

What if you can't make the first class? Can you join (and pay) starting with the second session?

    January 31, 2013

    • Dan

Yes, and still get 5 classes. There is another consecutive 5 week session after this one so you can make up for the first week on the next session. You pay for 5 sessions, so for the best results try to make consecutive classes (week to week).

Can you please provide some detail concerning learning objectives?
