Details for multiply locations to meet up. Read carefully the instructions. Saturday February 1, 2014 Our 93rd monthly survey Tarcoola to Bastrop Fisherman's Park The 93rd survey will be a short one, six miles. We will go from private property into the city of Bastrop. We should be done in 4 - 6 hours. This is a very nice section of river but offers little in the way of sandy beaches or gravel bars. Current forecast for river flow and weather says it should be good. The shuttle is a confusing and goes through downtown Bastrop. If you do not know where Fisherman's Park is, let us know. We should find any of the winter birds. Last month we missed good ones that we know are in the area, Cedar Waxwing, American Robin, Orange-crowned Warbler and all kinds of ducks to name a few. Remember, this trip is intended to be a survey of the riparian ecosystem and not necessarily a recreational trip. ***** Don't forget to like the Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/pages/Austin-Bastrop-River-Corridor-Partnership/275[masked] Also, the survey results are posted on Travis Audubon's web site http://travisaudubon.org/get-outdoors/claudes-river-survey ***** Another self promotion. We have trips set up for Panama, Honduras, Belize, and Costa Rica. If you would like more information please let me know. I will add you to a mail list for those notices. ***** RIVER FLOW RATES http://waterdata.usgs.gov/tx/nwis/current/?type=flow http://tx.usgs.gov/basins.html Click on the Colorado River basin[masked] Colorado Rv at Austin, TX We meet at the CER at 8:00 AM. As a group we will caravan to Hwy 969 (Utley) bridge. Those wishing to meet us at the bridge may do so. We should be there by 8:45 There we will regroup and go to Robert Fuller's place. There we will unload gear. This area is a very nice place to launch with lots of room. We will then shuttle the cars to the Fisherman's Park in Bastrop. We will all pile into as few cars as necessary to go back upstream to the gear. This scenario leaves most cars at the downstream location. We will float together as a group. When we get down to the Fisherman's Park, we load gear and the survey is officially done. DRIVING DIRECTIONS TO FISHERMAN'S PARK Going east on Highway 71 take the Hasler - Childers (Loop 150) Exit in Bastrop The first light is Hasler, go straight through this light. I'll plan on being at the CER by 8am. A lot of rain would be a downside for me due to my kayak's extra-large cockpit opening (& no sprayskirt)...

Sounds fun, Cathy--Just won't be back in time to make it to the lake for sailing (two more after this one, and then I will have my Saturdays back!)

Claude is the leader of this trip. His phone number is listed in all the details. This is one of my favorite parts of the river. I can't make it...darn it...but I know you will ENJOY it!
