TGIF Event Friday April 25

Meet and greet 6-8pm. Anyone interesting in paddling from 3-6pm post a reply on the comments. I could be tempted to rearrange my schedule that day. Meet on the back deck, enjoy a beverage, tell a few fish stories and watch the sunset. Last time I was there I saw a 40 pound fish.

Weather was great. Downside everyone and their brother was out today...even at 3pm. Didn't see my 40 pound fish. Did see 2 baby swans with their parents. That was a first.

Sorry, not going to make it after all.

No rentals anywhere close. You can haul rental from TX Rowing dock by AHS, or concession under Mopac on Stratford Dr, but they don't give foam or tie-down straps for car-hauling.
    Sorry.

Can we rent kayaks there? I would love to end the week Ina kayak!

No rentals at that location. Recommend contacting Austin Canoe & Kayak.

Paddling at 3pm on 4/25. Put in at Walsh Boat Landing, top of L. Austin Blvd, start of Scenic Drive. Parking close by. We can hit both Bee Creek inlet across lake and the Laguna Gloria Slough upstream. Then walk to Hula Hut.

I may or may not be able to hang out for one, as I'm off camping with some folks and need to head out for that post paddle. I'll byob for the paddle ;)

I have to work so I'll have to skip the paddling, but I will meet ya'll at hula hut.

    1 · April 23, 2014

I suggest we head over to Bee Creek Inlet straight across lake at 3pm, paddle to its upstream end, then come back out, past ramp for late-comers and go up to Laguna Gloria Slough or partway to it if there is more time to paddle, before the 6pm Hula Hut. Hoping for tables on bar part with a view of the 40-lb Bass statue...

I think I was too late or on the wrong side of the dam. Damn dams. I got off work just after 1600 and spent about an hour paddling around buy didn't see any other kayakers on the water.

And having spent 20 minutes waiting for the waitress to show up, I'm giving up on the hula hut too.

      Robert - wrong date, sorry.

      April 18, 2014

  • Jim R.

Catch the date - Friday 4/25, so everyone can plan ahead marking their calendars.

  • Carolyn P.

I'll be there in time to get some instruction before we set off at 3pm, and will be ready to get wet.

I'm game to paddle 4p-6p, before HH. Put in at boat ramp, end of L. Austin Blvd. We can hit Bee Creek across the way, then paddle upriver on that side exploring the wilderness. Leave car with loaded boat near there and walk to Hula Hut, or park near LCRA building lot is a possibility, close to same distance.
I Need to hear if others are paddling at 4pm.

Let's see who else is interested. Nice coves to explore including several by Mayfield Park.

      April 7, 2014

Wish I could go--I'll be out of town but will try to catch the next one. I want to talk to folks about doing a dam-to-dam paddle as I've mentioned before... we just need to plan it!

    April 15, 2014

Hi Kathy! Please verify the date. I can do the 25th.

    April 9, 2014

    • Cathy K.

Yes Friday April 25 is the correct date..

      April 9, 2014

  • Jim R.

"Annie", I have a kayak & gear to loan you for this paddle, just let me know if you'll make it.

Cathy, please correct the Title or the date listed (4/11 or 4/25? as title is This Friday but 4/25 is listed) and time, 3pm OK with me, and we'll explore more coves.

    April 7, 2014

    • Cathy K.

Haha...you will be surprised how clear the water is and the size of a few fish. I have several witnesses.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
