It will be an Austintacious event. Kayak is the best way to get there & see. Park & Launch under IH-35 (free parking). Beach & cablelock boat at 2nd Condo docks from east end, then short walk (directional signage detour around eastern-most Condo) to East end’s land entrance ceremony. Ribbon cutting, speeches, chorus songs, etc at East end starting 10am. Flotilla of 30 sailing dingies manned by Scouts going by. Then Eastside Panther Rhythm Band will lead everyone down to IH-35 (we paddle) for Blue Lapis Performance dangling from IH-35 bridge on ropes 11:45. Kayak gives best seat.

I may need kayaks to help keep other boats from getting too close to performance at upstream & downstream IH-35 edges. Bring squirters (and not that baby one) - you have been warned. Hope to see you there.

There was about 5 of us, but I didn't get to greet everyone as I was doing guard duty clearing the performance area.
FANTASTIC ARTISTRY. a most welcome Austin Cultural fix while sitting in your kayak for front row seat.
Those that missed it, you can look at Blue Lapis Light website for edited past performances. They haven't posted this "East-West", the IH-35 performance yet.

Wow ! What a blast that was ! Especially watching the aerial performance from so nearby in the water. Sorry I didn't get to meet anyone before the show.

Its a long paddle from Texas Rowing Dock to Eastend of Boardwalk. Under IH-35 is prime launch in the shade with free parking.
You can always circle Bird Island down by Ex-Holly Power Plant if you need more miles.

Meetup paddlers to be underneath IH-35 by 11:30am, serving as courtesy area patrollers to keep boats away from the area close to Blue Lapis rope artists (edges of IH-35 upstream & downstream).
Kayaks can also be under edge of Boardwalk, but not far out from underneath Boardwalk.

Thanks in advance for all your help making this a success.

There are kayak rentals close to IH-35 bridge: Austinsailingrentals.com is behind the Holiday Inn Garage. You drive on the small road parallel to lake to see them. Glidingrevolution.com -[masked] (blue barn) is on access road with the food trailers park right at Holiday Inn front door. Both take reservations and have website info.
The activities start 10am at east end of Boardwalk. See description for beaching yaks location IF you don't want to just float beside Boardwalk.

I will be wearing a reflective vest - to help coordinate y'all area patrollers after the rythem band parade starts marching West towards IH-35.

OK sold. However I expect we'll get in at the boat ramp by the Texas Rowing Center then likely just hang out on our boats.

This is a bit too last minute. I plan on walking and parading on land
