Paddle San Marcos River - Part III

Let's paddle yet another stretch of the San Marcos River, from Martindale to Staples.  This intimate stretch is suitable for beginners and offers a few minor rapids and great wildlife viewing opportunities. Those who arrive will make a fast shuttle plan over breakfast.  We will be on the water before 10am.   Please bring $5.00 for put-in fees at Shady Grove campground in Martindale.  Also posting this on Central Texas River Runners meetup.

Would love to, but on a month long rv trip and finding lakes to paddling "Blue Crush" on, y'all have fun. Hopefully you will have one in August before school starts up . :)

Hi Jim, I love kayaking the San Marcos river and am so happy you're hosting this event! I'd like to rent a kayak through Spencer Canoes but can't find the link. Could you please assist me? I'm not sure which option to pick. Thanks!

      Spencer-canoes.com.
Click on the "rent a canoe" in menu. [masked] or call pat Spencer. Message says she'll call back if not open. Good luck. This is great beginner section with some small rapids for grins. Bryan Solomone is actually Our Dear Leader this trip.

Preacher the dog wouldn't miss it.
I also signed up on CTX River Runners, so don't double count me. I'll tell you about my CL 3-1/2 WW kayak trip in Frisco CO. when we're floating.

    All,
You Have to Preorder your rental Sit-On-Top Kayak from Spencer's canoes at link below.
Rentals also available at TG Canoe Livery(check hours) next to San Marcos River Retreat, just off drive to Martindale put-in, on your car roof. $5 CASH total for put-in/take-out/parking at their start/finish places. 2 people /car saves you a few $.
This is a great beginner paddler stretch. 5-1/2 miles + lunch. The float + lunch should be just under 3 hours + shuttling.
I expect to get back to Central Austin before 3pm.
BE AT TC BEFORE NOTED TIME to meet/greet/discuss/ROLL. We'll help you thru the couple CL 1-1/2 short rapids. Stay away from trees, especially on sharp curves.
Supplies: Lunchbox, water, drinks, sunblock, wide brim shadehat(strap preferred), watershoes, glasses strap, PFD(encouraged to wear it), paddle, paddle gloves, kayak(SOT or SI, no skirt), transport straps/pads, bow rope, drybag if you wish, towel & dry clothes at end, friendly attitude.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
