Austin Area Paddlers Christmas Party at MOC

MOC Kayaks is opening their shop for our Christmas Party this year. Cathy Kopp, your local Farmers Insurance agent and avid paddler is providing a center meat course, probably a ham or turkey. Everyone else, please bring a covered dish to share and BYOB.

We should have a campfire at MOC and we are looking to line up some options to entertain ourselves. This event is a work in progress so please be patient for details.

For folks, who want to stop by at MOC after work, just head on over to their shop at your convenience.  Their shop will be open. They are staying late to provide us a venue for this party. They are great folks and you will enjoy meeting them and seeing their shop. I am sure that they would appreciate your patronage as well."

I see where Cathy Kopp is organizing a day float trip.   Watch the comments below for details and coordinate that directly with Cathy if you are interested.

Really enjoyed reconnecting with everyone. Great food and libations with great friends. We had fabulous weather for the 12-mile paddle on the Colorado River before the party.

Tonights the night. It looks like we are going to have a great turnout. Some folks are already out on the river paddling today. Great fun. The weather forecast is for a near record high temperature today with some scattered showers. There is an arctic cold front moving in but it will have much affect until tomorrow.

    See y'all tonight!

I'll bring 6-7 camp chairs and my dog. He doesn't need a chair.
Also fire pit enclosure, firewood, 2 propane lanterns, beer, and appetizers. I'm game for the long paddle, so will drop off a bunch of party gear at MOC 9am.
I'll bring portable CD/radio and some holiday CD's. Other CD welcome, pls tape name to case. Jim Rankin 512-six three two-0020

FYI MOC is closed on Tuesdays. Call MOC on Mon. or Wed. with your questions. Interested in the 11/12 mile paddle...meet at MOC on Wed. at 9am.

    December 17, 2012

  • Cathy K.

Yes...when you think of insurance I hope you remember me, [masked]. Anyone interested in paddling Wed. morning? Put in at 10 am and paddle the long run...out by 3 pm....if the Colorado River is flowing and the weather is nice.

Decorating and set up will begin at 5pm. The more the merrier.

If anyone would like to bring a friend or need a kayak to float with Cathy before the party we will do 1/2 off kayak rentals for Cathy's group. Just let me know.

I want to put in at MOC. I have a call into MOC for water levels. Let's start early 9am and do the 11 mile paddle.

So, I'm taking off the whole day to delve into the festivities. Anyone interested in a paddle on the San Marcos River in the AM? I generally run a 6-mile stretch in 2.5 to 3.0 hours with shuttle time adding an additional 30 min. Any takers, call me at five one zero, three two five, eight zero three five.

I am also bringing a folding table and Hawaiian rolls. I was kidding about the lizard.

I know Emily...and she was NOT kidding about the lizard. ;-) I'm bringing a peach pie.

Well I do own a lizard. I don't think Chloe would have much fun though. She doesn't do much fire dancing.

Hey everyone I run MOC Kayaks with my "Pops" Danny and we are excited to host this event. We would love for attending members to show up early if they would like. Whether paddling in the morning or come play games earlier straight from work @ 5pm. We will take care of all the Christmas decorations and provide some games. Needs from attending members:
Chairs and maybe 1 or 2 more tables... (1) card table too.
Lights (flood) to conduct activities out back
Anything else you would like to bring to the party.

I'm ready to have a blast so let's all have some fun.

    December 14, 2012

    • Lori S

      I have a folding table -5ft- I can bring

      December 14, 2012

    • Dan

      That would be great Lori!

  • Wild B.

OK folks, things are really shaping up for the party. There will be some tables for food, but if you have a camp table, it might be a good idea to toss it into the truck. MOC has a corn hole set as well as Polish Horseshoes that we can play with. I'll bring a set of dominoes to boot. We are all pretty good at entertaining ourselves so bring your fun ideas and a great attitude and we'll have a blast.

I am sure that well behaved dogs and lizards are welcome. Be responsible for their safety and make sure they don't create a nuisance.

It sounds like the campfire ring has been arranged and the extended forecast looks like we'll have great weather. MOC has a good indoor heater so we are ready for cold temperatures if they crop up. We'll see you soon. Seasoned Greetings!
