No badge, No problem! 10 tricks to network at SXSW, with or without a badge.

Do you want to get tons of value from the networking opportunities at SXSW?    If so, this meetup is for you!

We will learn how to avoid information overload and effectively target our SXSW networking efforts from R.C. Mosier, the “Networking Junkie” and managing partner of a RAM Law Firm PLLC.

RC will talk about the best networking hot spots, which events and decision makers to target, how to find a key contact without a badge, and many more gems to help you cultivate new contacts and grow your business at SXSW!

About the speaker:

Roberto “R.C.” Rondero de Mosier, also known by many as a “networking junkie” is the managing partner at RAM Law Firm PLLC where he manages Business and Client Development. He represents clients in Texas, California, Illinois and New York in entertainment, trademark, copyright, licensing, business formation and transactional law related matters. Prior to entering the legal profession, R.C. graduated from Stanford University in Palo Alto, California where he majored in Communications. After school he entered the sales world where he trained over 400 field sales representatives how to create networks and maximize revenues.

While in law school R.C. caught the eye of Thomson Reuters and became a regional director of BARBRI where he gained experience training students for bar exams. After BARBRI R.C. entered the legal market, building a law practice through formulaic networking. R.C.‘s knowledge of the value of branding and marketing, along with his sales background, give him the needed experience to mentor law students and attorneys on how to successfully brand themselves for better career opportunities and client development. He blogs under networkingjunkie.com and speaks about effective law student and lawyer networking at networkthelaw.com.

RC, UR the Man! I had no doubt that I could get into the exhibits, but I was skeptical that people would actually discard "Manna from Heaven." But just like RC said, I found an Interactive Big Book & Pocket Book and a Music Big Book & Pocket Book left on a table at the Convention Center. Just like RC said those books are GOLDMINES!

Best time to get on the exhibit floor at the Convention Center is around Noon to 1PM when there are a lot of people going in and out of the doors, too many for the guards to check. Early in the morning, there are few people going to the exhibits and the guards are out in force.

Hey guys, is anyone interested in going to SXSW together? I'm a SXSW virgin, so to speak, and would love to get with someone of the same interests (technology geek into startups) to go round the events we can get into without the damn badge. ;) Message me if interested at[masked]

Would anyone volunteer to take notes for this meetup and post them afterwards? I'm currently RSVP'ed to attend but just got scheduled for a meeting that conflicts so I'll be giving up my spot, but I'm very interested in the information and would be forever grateful (along with the huge waiting list) if someone was able to take good notes and post them after!

RC does your Firm litigate Copyright & Trademark Infringement Cases? I anticipate that Z will have to sue for IP infringement. Since I am not licensed in Texas, Z will need litigators to sue. [masked]

How to share contact info and follow up meaningfully!
    - Have sexy business cards! But don’t expect results for them!
    - Ask for everyone else’s cards and upload them into a app (CamScanner) or Google Drive, which for free transcribes everything written so you can go paperless!
    - Get their approval to add to your auto responder emails and texts and websites for events you’d like them to join you at!
    - Use one follow up method for multiple new people you meet live as you walk from your phone!

NOTE: All content posted by permission from Tony Tovar, enjoy what was easily a MUST INVALUABLE PRESENTATION! PACKED HOUSE TOO!

Now how to attack SWSX! - Meet with decision makers in a planned location!
    - Avoid in the noise of SWSX the non-decision makers!
    - Target people who can influence media! (Media People)
    - Target bloggers who can write up content about you!
    - Grab the SWSX App! (Setup alerts using the guide!)
    - Target people in the booths from that guide you want to introduce yourself and business too!
    - He who hoots with the owls at night cannot rise with the Eagles in the day! If you want to do business skip the late night parties!

      - Google images of people your seeking so you know who to look for as they arrive and be there 15+mins early!
      - Use your phone to take photos of banners with dates, times, and events everywhere downtown Austin (Bars/downtown venues)
      - Do not scatter shot any location for less than an hour!
      - Use RSVPster.com to reserve food and events for you (costs money)
      - Get to scheduled events one+ hour early at the least! (Avoid being locked out due to the line!)
      - Use a calendar system on your phone (cloudbased!)

The secrets to keep in mind in general
    - Have clear goals (Especially for networking) (Daunting!)(Getting a job)(Get a client)
    - Have a appropriate plan of attack in presenting yourself
    - Setup SPECIFC-MEASURABLE-ATTAINABLE-REVISEABLE-TIMETABLE STABLE (SMART) goals for referral resources!
    - Seek Mentorship in networking too!
    - In a hr timeframe acceptable time rule of thumb five+ people to add to your network

Now to plan your personal pitch
    - Have it pat down in your head!
    - Have a method of intro
    - Intro
    - Short Story
    - Presentation
    - Close – Call to Action
    - Rehash / Sales cycle

Loved the recent Crowd Funding meet-up (and was able to offer my notes to Thomas)! Looking to learn more about SXSW to collect info for brainstorming on how to create a business to interface music & yoga education with other industries in new and creative ways--and also to have info to share with my guest from Toronto who will be here for the Interactive portion of SXSW
