Symphony in the Park: Big Band

The show doesn't start until 7:30 pm. However, in consideration of parking and that the show is free, let's meet at 6:45 to get a good place on the lawn. If folks want to do a mini potluck while we're there...I'm game. Other than that suggestion, it is a family friendly event. Blanket or lawn chair, sunscreen/bug protection, hat or umbrella, and readiness to have a great time are all highly recommended.

Here's the program for the evening.....so you'll know what to expect to hear from the Austin Symphony Orchestra:

Thanks...I wish that you could've called or texted so you could meet the group. Sorry that we couldn't all sit together.

I'm a weak "maybe" at this point. I work all day and if I have any energy left, I will try and make it. I just can't be sure.

One last note....I don't think I mentioned....it is a BYOB when it comes to food and non-alcoholic drinks. I unfortunately won't be able to host a dinner before or after,

I will be sitting on a white blanket with an umbrella on the lawn...I will be getting there a little early to scout out a space close enough to the bandstand so we can hear, but not close enough to where it is too loud. I also will have a set of large balloons nearby. If you cannot find me, here is my phone number: 5125406100....I know that there is at least one other Meetup group that will be out on the lawn. I don't know if there will be more who have the same idea of meeting with balloons. So if for any reason, you have trouble initially id our group, me, where we are, etc., please feel free to call or text. I do not mind anyone calling, rather than wondering trying to find us, and I would be more than happy to get up, find you, and get you where we are.

If something comes up that does not allow you to attend, please update your RSVP accordingly. Please try to do so nlt 12pm today. If you are running late, please let me know via phone

Thanks and see you all tonight.

Hi everyone....We will be meeting on the lawn. I plan on getting there a little earlier. Of course, just bringing the basics that I've already outlined. I will send all of you my phone number to text or call if you have trouble locating us and I will probably have some balloons (don't know what color) along with an umbrella and red blanket. Only reminder I have is if something happens and you need to cancel or confirm, please do so by 12pm tomorrow afternoon if at all possible.

I am new to the group. How do we find each other? Other groups use colored balloons.

Got an answer quickly from the Austin Symphony Orchestra after I sent them an email this morning. Talk about great service:

If you would like to eat, basically it's a bring your own kind of a deal. There will not be any vendors around to buy from. As for alcohol, people have brought alcohol in their picnic baskets....but keep in mind that since it is public property, that the Long Center does not really allow it. With that said, you are more than welcome to do a sack dinner byob or a mini pot luck, just let me know and something can be planned.

Just an update about everything....the park encourages to bring a picnic dinner and blanket. Free parking is available @ Barton Springs Road at One TX Center; Pd parking for $7 is available at Palmer Garage. I've sent out information about whether or not alcoholic beverages are allowed. I also sent out a request to see if food vendors will be in the area as well. I'm getting some great questions via email about the event. Keep them coming and I'll answer them as soon as I have the answers.

Oh gosh, I hate I'm going to miss this one. I promise my friend I'll take her to San Francisco for her birthday.

I hate for you to miss it....I'm debating whether or not to do another one in August....it just depends on scheduling with everything else going on in August for me.
