Sherwood Forest Faire

Welcome to Sherwood!  The Sherwood Forest Faire is now in its fifth year and has proven itself to be on of the best Renaissance Faires in the country. And it's less than an hour from Austin.

Join Robin Hood and our band of merry, errr, geeks for a day of entertainment, feasting, foolishness, and revelry. If you can get there by 11:30, we will gather near the dragon wishing well inside the front gates. Otherwise, I hope we'll bump into each other and meetup throughout the day.

Due to the weather, we moved the event to Sunday the 16th. Don't forget about "Bring-a-Friend Sunday" deal. Arrive before noon and you get a free guest admission with every paid one. See details at http://www.sherwoodforestfaire.com/seek-ye-our-village/tickets/

For more info, and to purchase tickets, go to: http://www.sherwoodforestfaire.com/

If you would like to coordinate car pools, feel free to use our event discussion section below to ask or offer rides.

The weather was beautiful and breezy, the food was tasty, the performers were entertaining. Sorry I didn't find more of you guys there.

Don't forget - we are meeting at the dragon fountain at 11:30. We can split up from there or stick together, as you wish.

I plan on attending, will have kiddos along with me though so we may split off, but would enjoy meeting up with some folks as well.

It is Saturday morning, the 8th - We have rain today and expect thunderstorms tonight. The forecast for tomorrow is for wet and cold, with temps in the 40's. I hereby proclaim our quest to Sherwood postponed by a week, to the 16th.

Gang - The current forecast is for rain on Sunday. I will wait until Saturday morning to make a go / no-go decision. What I would like to know is, if we need to cancel for this Sunday, would you rather (a) postpone by one week to the 16th, or (b) wait until the 30th when we can join Sten, Anita, Stacey and the others going on closing day? Let me know your preference!

I am going rain or shine. Last time I went to the ren fair it rained and it was a blast. We just kind of waited it out for about an hour and got to talk to some really cool people. Plus the other weeks are a no go for me.

Would there be an interest in carpooling for Sunday? I have 2 extra seats in my car, 3 if you are into being a sardine.

If you can't make it on the 9th, Sten just posted another date to go with him and Anita on the 30th.

What does a typical day cost to go to this. I've never been to a ren fair or anything so I have nothing to go by. After admission what kinds of things do you spend money on?

Sherwood can vary quite a bit. There are many crafters with expensive wares to sell, and I have a tough time going without buying something cool like a hat or a puffy-sleeved shirt. On the other hand, if you can resist that temptation, I would budget about $20 for admission (or half that per person if you get the BOGO offer before noon Sunday), $20-$25 for food, and some spare bills to tip the show performers.

I recommend having $50 in cash - with half in 1's and 5's. You probably won't spend all of that, but you will have enough to help keep hydrated, buy snacks/meals, and tip throughout day. I once went and wanted to buy fruit at one of the stands and he could not provide change for the $20 or $10 I had on me. Don't assume they will have change to break into smaller bills.

Note the deal for "Bring-a-Friend Sundays" - get there before noon on Sunday, and you can get a friend in free when you buy tickets at the front gate.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
