Share Your Favorite Movie Night

Alright fellow geeks - Bring out your favorite geeky movie on DVD. We'll put them all up for a vote and watch the two that everybody most wants to see. Leave the obvious choices at home, the ones that everybody has already seen 10,000 times (Star Wars, Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, Matrix, etc.). Instead, please bring your favorite hidden treasure - a great sci-fi or fantasy film that many of us have not seen yet. For example, when we did this in September, we voted to watch "Buckaroo Banzai" and "Dorkness Rising". My collection includes Battle Beyond the Stars, Free Enterprise, District 9, Time After Time, and Wizards. What would you like to share with your fellow Austin Geeks and Gamers?

I'll provide the popcorn. Please bring sodas and snacks to share. See you then!

Holy Zarquan's Flying Fish, Batman! I remember Battle Beyond the Stars. Okay, it is a sci-fi remake of Akira Kirosawa's "The Seven Samurai" ... semicolon however comma ... darn, it is a great movie!

"Battle Beyond the Stars" almost made the final cut last night. Come next time Robert and your vote could take it over the top. If you have never seen BBtS, view a trailer here: http://www.youtube.co...

I saw Battle Beyond the Stars in the theater lo these many years ago. It would be a blast to see again.

Had a lot of fun meeting some new people. And the movies were awesome! I just wish someone had told on the event about the dog. I probably would've been able to stay a bit later if I had known and taken an allergy pill. Not to say the dog wasn't adorable!

Take your allergy pill next time and come on back!

Where were the men? Women out numbered men. We watched two great movies. Thanks Jeff. Another great movie night!

I'm sorry I missed this one. I hope the AGG does another soon.

We saw "Free Enterprise" (with, I kid you not, William Shatner rapping Shakespeare) and Gattaca. A great turnout, and lots more good movies that didn't get picked (yet!)

I very much liked your comment on Geeks. Yup, I'm a gnurd. I live in Waco, so I cannot make very many social engagements due to driving time. I discovered the Austin ComicCon through this web site, and a friend of mine and I did visit. We both enjoyed seeing like-minded people and she found a size-small "Captain Tightpants" (Serenity) t-shirt which fit her. We are "still flying."

I hope we can find at least one or two more compelling events to get you down her, Robert. Keep flying!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
